Sasha Douglas

Sasha Douglas has always dreamed of becoming a photographer. Like many artists of the Internet generation, including Lena Dunham, Douglas' work offers an insider's view of both her family and her personal life. Combined with her acute sense of composition and talent for spotting the dramatic in her daily existence, Douglas creates images that are arresting, loving, intimate, and—most importantly—full of life. Still something of an ingenue, by virtue of both her age and her fresh eye, Douglas states: "Photography is my first and foremost interest and passion." After she graduates from high school, she hopes to attend the Rhode Island School of Design.

Interview with the Artist

1. If not yourself, who would you want to be?
I would love to have been someone like Cleopatra. To this day, she is one of the most notorious queens, and yet no one is entirely sure of what she looked like. That, or Superman, because he can fly.
2. What's your hidden talent?
I love creative writing, but I don't spend a lot of time honing that skill outside of class. I figure if I ever become interesting enough I could write something worth reading (or selling).
3. What would you want your last meal on earth to be?
One bite of everything I love, and then one bite of everything I've never tried.
4. What's your favorite time of day?
Dawn, when the sun is first rising. I love most staying up all night and waiting for that time.
5. What's your idea of a dream home or holiday?
Someplace where I could experience two worlds at once. A quiet beach house in a big city, for example. Any place where I could choose between being isolated and being surrounded by people, that is also beautiful.
