Sean Fader
Sean Fader (b. 1985) is a photographer and performance artist based in Brooklyn, New York. Each of Fader's photographic series documents a performative action, from meeting and photographing new aquantainces he's met on the internet to wearing the skin of and being photographed by his subjects. In his series "I Want To Put You On," Fader shot portraits of his friends and family, and digitally integrated himself into the image, as though he were wearing their skin, creating an "intersubjective portrait event." The work is performative, as the roles are reversed and the artist is instructed by the sitter to replicate their posture and stance.
Fader holds an MA in digital arts from the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC), and has done residencies at Yaddo, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, and the Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts, NYFA and A Blade of Grass. His work has been exhibited at Defibrillator Gallery in Chicago; Spring Break Art Show in New York; Pulse Art Fair in New York; the Gagosian in New York; Denny Gallery in New York; and Haverford College.
