Shane McAdams

Though Shane McAdams now lives in New York City, he spent his childhood at a Navajo reservation, which is where he continues to draw inspiration for his process and his subjects. McAdams is not only fascinated by the desert landscapes of his childhood, but also by the gradual and chaotic effects of time and climate that formed them. In his paintings, McAdams brackets his natural landscapes with designs made using media from Elmer's glue to ballpoint pens and says of this contrast: "I hope to evoke the duality between the actual and the artificial as it is conveyed through idealized representations of order and beauty." His graceful processes of creation and the way he uses his tools to make his artwork recall the forces of nature that create the landscapes. McAdams has exhibited all over the USA and internationally.
