Siobhan Liddell

British artist Siobhan Liddell's early work often derived meaning by engaging directly with a space. While moving away from installation pieces in recent years, Liddell has stayed loyal to her commitment of understanding processes and materials. Her exquisite work with paper collage exhibits her appreciation for even those materials that carry little weight. Growing up in London surrounded by the punk culture of the 1960s and '70s, Liddell attributes much of her creativity to the scene's DIY approach. She also gained a deep appreciation for materials from her a father, who was a lightweight structural engineer. Liddell's work has been the subject of solo exhibitions at the Henry Moore Institute in Leeds and the UCLA Hammer Museum, and was included in the 1995 Whitney Biennial.
