Tad Lauritzen Wright

Tad Lauritzen Wright is a mixed media artist who creates work about the pleasure of making through naive forms and shocking color. Lauritzen Wright considers his work an ongoing play between fine art, craft, and hobby. The artist writes of his experimental work, “I am interested in generating an impromptu reaction to an idea, thought, or experience. I believe in allowing the extended possibilities of landscape, dead images, jokes, art history, and personal history to shape how the pieces develop."

Tad Lauritzen Wright’s work has been widely exhibited in group and solo shows, including Memphis Brooks Museum of Art, TN, The Vault, Memphis, TN, Museum of Nebraska Art, Katonah Museum of Art, NY, and Orange County Center for Contemporary Art, CA. His work has won a range of awards, including the Urban Art Commission and Fred Wells National Competition.
