Sunglasses

A staple of the fashion, art and celebrity crowds since their rise to popularity around the turn of the 20th century, sunglasses have since become a major symbol of “cool.” Everyone from glamorous movie stars and downtown creatives to jet-setting models and working class beachgoers have been drawn, painted, filmed and photographed in sunglasses since their invention. In addition to featuring sunglasses in their works, many contemporary artists have collaborated with eyewear brands to create limited edition collections—examples include Raymond Pettibon and Barbara Kruger with Freeway Eyewear, and the Yves Klein archives with Barberini.
