Toby Ziegler

The paintings and sculptures of Toby Ziegler oscillate between figurative and abstracted, fusing traditional composure and digital manipulation to create landscapes that exist somewhere between virtual and reality. Through a process that involves image appropriation, computer rendering and fabrication, Ziegler expands the modular notion of the two or three-dimensional plane. Highly detailed, his works play with light and refraction by incorporating various planes and repeated motifs, often pieced together like a puzzle to reveal a classic art historical form.

Ziegler has had a number of solo exhibitions worldwide including Galerie Max Hetzler, Paris, Hepworth Wakefield, Wakefield, UK, Simon Lee Gallery, Hong Kong, Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma, Helskinki, Finland, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, Wakefield, UK and Chisenhale Gallery, London, among others.
