William Steiger Bio

About The Artist

William Steiger makes paintings that evoke a cool sense of order. He focuses on architecture and mechanical pieces of the world that are not only functional and beautiful but also somewhat nostalgic. The cable cars hanging in mid-air, railroad bridges, water towers, light houses, grain elevators, roller coasters, Ferris Wheels, and tunnels appear as homages to the mathematics of engineering. Steiger detaches his motifs from their environment, leaving only white space around them. By selecting salient details for his paintings, he hopes to create specific and directed insights for each viewer.
