Zevs

Parisian graffiti artist ZEVS (whose name is derived from a regional French train called “Zeus”) takes aim at corporate images, defacing their logos or excising and ransoming the images of models in ads. Like several other Parisian street artists, ZEVS has been able to maintain a prolific presence on city streets while also emerging as an internationally exhibited fine artist. ZEVS has shown in galleries in the UK, New York, France, Germany, Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Belgium, among others. In one popular early series, his Electric Shadows, ZEVS outlined the streetlight-cast shadows of various urban landmarks such as parking meters and bollards. Those outlines remain during the day, even though the shadows do not, thereby calling attention to the city’s landscape and its effect on the consciousness of the contemporary flâneur.
