About The Work
Liverpool Biennial is delighted to announce the release of two limited editions by Alicja Biala. The work relates to her 2022 commission, Merseyside Totemy, which addresses the urgent issue of the impact of climate change on Merseyside.
Biala’s Totemy Composition One etching showcases the geometric patterns found in the public realm sculpture. Biala chose to create the etching plate using the same metal found on the sculpture. The etching has been created using brass colouring, symbolising the rust effect located on the sculptures. This etching celebrates the materials, colours and shapes of its sculptural counterpart within a medium that forms a part of Biala’s practice.
