Alyson Shotz

Guided by an interest in the natural world, Alyson Shotz constructs art across a variety of media ranging from sculpture to prints to animation. The artist creates works that simultaneously mirror and refract elements of our universe, merging the realms of art and artifice. For example, her large-scale outdoor sculpture Mirror Fence (2003) features a classic American sight—a picket fence—fashioned out of the unconventional material of polished steel, which segments and reflects its surroundings even as the work blends into its natural setting.

Shotz been exhibited in numerous public and private institutions including the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Hirshhorn Museum, and the Guggenheim Museum.

Proceeds from Shotz's Artspace print will benefit the Guggenheim Museum.
