Amy Bennett

Amy Bennett is interested in storytelling, and accordingly, she has developed an involved artistic process that entails first crafting three-dimensional models—miniature or larger scale—from which she then executes detailed paintings. These mockups and the ensuing pictures offer the viewer distinct narrative views of locales such as suburban neighborhoods, doctor’s offices, churches, and numerous domestic interiors, all of which are entirely directed and conceived of by Bennett. Through this method of working, the artist wields complete control over lighting, composition, and vantage point, ultimately realizing her goal of painting “the scenes in a way that feels like a believable world, but an alternate, fabricated world.”
