About The Work

Reminiscent of the long, spindly limbs of iconic Swiss sculptor Alberto Giacometti, this bronze work by French artist Anne de Villeméjane depicts a Spanish matador, posed in traditional costume. Combining various metalwork techniques, de Villeméjane creates a collage of layered textures by integrating wire, and mesh into the structure of her figure. Capturing the energy of human expression in her sculptural portraits, de Villeméjane explores the nuance of texture, style and presentation.
