Carl Suddath

Carl Suddath creates unique works from folded, dyed and bleached sheets of paper. The subtle intricacies of these abstractions suggest a meditative process or system, at once uncomplicated and evocative. The creases, bends and staining of each work are mirrored in his sculptures, in which lines and angles of steel and wood are joined in various junctions.

Suddath has shown his work in a number of solo exhibitions around the United States including Inman Gallery, Houston, The Suburban, Oak Park, IL, Lawndale Art Center, Houston, Van Harrison Gallery, New York and Gallery 400, University of Illinois Chicago, Chicago. His group exhibitions include Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, Track House, Chicago and Light & Sie, Dallas, TX. In 2012 Suddath received an Artadia Award from Fund for Art and Dialogue, New York, NY.
