Taiwanese artist Charwei Tsai uses a variety of media in a socially engaged performative practice. Geographical, social and spiritual concerns nourish a body of works questioning global identities and the confines of complacent contemplation. In addition to her art practice, Tsai is the editor-and-cheif of Lovely Daze, an art journal published twice a year since 2005.
Tsai has had solo exhibitions in cities all around the world, including Beijing, Bogota, Hong Kong, Mumbai, Paris, Singapore, Sydney, Taipei and Tokyo, and her projects have been included in various international exhibitions, such as J’en Rêve, Fondation Cartier, Paris, the inaugural Singapore Biennale, Singapore, ZKM Center of Art and Media in Germany, Centre Pompidou, Paris, the 6th Asia Pacific Triennial in Queensland, Australia, Ludwig Museum in Budapest, Yokohama Triennal in Japan, Asian Art Museum of San Francisco, the Herzliya Museum in Israel (2012), Sharjah Biennial in United Arab Emirates, the Dojima River Biennial in Osaka, and Centre Pompidou Metz.
