Chris Calderwood

Chris Calderwood works in multi-faceted large-scale sculptural installations dealing with science fiction, nerd enthusiasm and pop-cultural themes. His work spans an array of audio, computer graphics, printed works, web sourced material and sculpture. Blurring the lines between fantasy and reality, his work explores faith in technology and the aesthetics and social codes of sci-fi fan culture. His exhibition “CRYONIX Life Extension Foundation,” for example, featured an immersive installation of a decaying cryogenic freezing company where people sit dead on ice, hoping to be woken in the future.

Calderwood graduated with a BA from Goldsmiths in 2016. He has been featured in group and solo exhibitions in London and Norwich. His first solo show was at Stew Gallery in Norwich in 2014. He has completed artists residencies with research departments within the Jones Innes Center and Exeter University. He lives and works in London.
