Dale McNeil

Artist Dale McNeil describes his painting process as a form of “iconoclastic abstraction. Each composition is based upon historical symbols, and through self imposed obstacles, randomness, and chance McNeil distorts and obscures the original subject. This act of distortion allows him to explore the form of classical symbols within a composition free of historical definition.” Each painting acts as a record of easily forgotten ideas, and as McNeil states, “Paint is not a perfect record, paint is not perfection, paint is evidence of life.” He has shown his vibrant works in a number of exhibitions across the United States, he participated in the 2012 Brucennial at the Bruce High Quality Foundation in New York City and a solo show at Tops Gallery, Memphis, TN.
