Dean Kube

Kansas City-based artist Dean Kube paints with acrylic on birch in an effort to celebrate the unexpected textural moments that emerge organically in his compositions. By working with tools that feel unfamiliar, from traditional paintbrushes to card stock to miscellaneous found implements around the house, Kube manufactures mis-steps as a point of friction in his compositions, facilitating experimentation as process rather than by-product. Dean received his BFA in 1993 from the Kansas City Art Institute. He has exhibited at various regional galleries including The Strecker-NelsonKiosk GalleryH&R Block Artspace at KCAI and Leedy-Voulkos Art Center as well as many other galleries across the United States.
