Diane Wah

Diane Wah is a Haitian, New York City native whose photography "explores various notions of gender, racial coding, and cultural theory." Inspired by filmmakers such as Alfred Hitchcock, Spike Lee, and Stanley Kubrick and photographers like Weegee and Diane Arbus, Wah uses a combination of digital and film photography to experiment with her subject matter. Originally trained as an anthropologist taught to "document and then to file away," Wah challenges the concept of objectivity in her photography and asks the viewer to question, "What is fact?"
