El Bocho

El Bocho is Frankfurt-born and Berlin-based artist with an international reputation. He has been working in the streets since 1997. The main components of his work are communications and references to urban life. El Bocho is not a “fan” of institutions – it is important for him to work outside the art scene, as this reaches an audience that does not visit art-specific locations like galleries or museums. He tries to communicate with his audience and to create work in this mutual correspondence. In July 2009 El Bocho completed the world’s largest tape art piece of the world in Berlin. 15.000 meter of tape was used on 1100 square meters at the front of the Stadtbad Wedding in Berlin. In November and December 2009 he was an artist in residence at the Red Bull House of Art in São Paulo / Brazil. He was featured in different TV shows, such as German, Hungarian, Israeli, American and Hong Kong productions. His newest experiment involves exposing poster paper to sunlight and precipitation, then adding color, before leaving it outside again to mesh with the natural surroundings.
