Elaina Sullivan is a self-taught visual artist, spending years carefully dissecting old master and impressionist paintings. She is constantly exploring art historical movements and allowing them to fuel her contemporary aesthetic. Most recently, Sullivan has taken inspiration from graffiti and street art. The crispness juxtaposed with the inherent drips and overspray of aerosol painting have influenced Sullivan to create her own works in a similar vein. Likening a spray paint close-up, these paintings capture the immediacy of graffiti while preserving a thoughtfully ethereal quality. Sullivan currently lives and works in New York City.
