Eric Wesley

Eric Wesley has become internationally known for his large-scale sculptural works that combine highly crafted objects with elements of performance and a wry, pranksterish social criticism. For example, for his 2006 exhibition at MOCA in Los Angeles, Wesley created a monumentally scaled installation including a rotating floor, a wrecked Vespa motorbike, and other iconic elements choreographed in mysterious theatrical and conceptual balance. In this project, as with past works, Wesley questions issues of presence in sculpture and the reception of the artist in the public arena of the contemporary art world.

Wesley has held solo exhibitions in galleries internationally as well as at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles and Foundation Morra Greco in Naples. He has participated in group shows at the Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Fundación/Colección in Jumex, Museo d'Arte in Benevento, The Prague Biennial, London’s Institute of Contemporary Art, P.S.1 in New York, and the Studio Museum in Harlem.
