Fabienne Hess

Fascinated by the digital habits of both humans and computers Fabienne Hess’s work investigates notions of communication, consumption, and solidarity within the digital age. Hess renews societies discarded materials, recovering data from trash folders, the terms and conditions of large companies, text taken from spam emails, and images never searched for online to then transform into physical objects. This excavation of lost media highlights the ignored or neglected messages being received which ultimately guides and structures our daily lives.

Hess has recently held solo shows at La Balsa Arte in Bogotá, Colombia and French Riviera in London. After graduating from the Royal College of Art in London she has been in a number of group exhibitions at galleries including 9a and 11 Lever Street in London, Halle 52 in Winterthur, Switzerland; Birch Contemporary in Toronto, and Upstream Gallery in Amsterdam.
