Hannah Collins

A sculptor, photographer, and filmmaker, Hannah Collins creates works that explore and undermine the traditional boundaries and expectations of the various mediums she employs. Integral to her practice is the idea of rethinking the relationship between space, environment, and representation, as in works such as Thin Protective Coverings (1986), a massive canvas featuring a photograph of a room on a 1:1 scale. Fascinated by representations of cultural and economic status, Collins’s work reflects an archaeological approach to the everyday, using everyday objects and patterns to evoke dynamic histories. Collins has been the subject of solo exhibitions at institutions including the Tate Britain, the Centre Pompidou, and Toronto’s Power Plant, among others.
