Haroshi

As a skateboarder and woodworker, Haroshi's most well-known works are sculptures made of stacked, hand-carved skateboards which are then painted and polished. Through this process, the many layers of wood are exposed, resulting in a highly detailed, rainbow-like effect on its surface. Haroshi's repertoire generally features everyday, recognisable objects such as skulls, shoes and toys; here we see a dismembered foot and calf, a seemingly ominous subject matter made jaunty with a multi-coloured coloured palette.
