Hyun Jung Ahn

Brooklyn-based Korean painter Hyun Jung Ahn’s work explores non-verbal expression through abstract imagery. After moving to New York and being challenged by the language barrier, Ahn set out to find an alternative way to convey her feelings. Her paintings encapsulate moments in time and the artist’s emotional states through the use of shape and color. Ahn earned her first MFA from Duk-Sung Women’s University in Seoul and her second MFA from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. She has exhibited internationally in Seoul, Tuscany, Miami, San Francisco, and New York and has participated in residencies at the Studios at MASS MoCA and the Vermont Studio Center. Ahn currently lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
