Color and emotion are the basis of Isabelruizperdiguero's work. She derives inspiration from nature, and the sensations and colors that surround us, both in tangible objects and abstract sense. Her practice is informed primarily by the intangible, the spiritual, and the emotional. Isabelruizperdiguero's early oil paintings were hyperrealistic. Over the years she has moved toward abstraction, simultaneously expanding her medium choices to acrylic and mixed media. Her works give the artist an outlet to her personal emotional, sensory and intellectual world.
After working for several years on etching in its various techniques (lithography, etching, aquatint, drypoint, additive techniques, etc), Isabelruizperdiguero realized the freedom and satisfaction that she got working on paper which eventually led her to discover the world of collage. In her continuous trips to the Cantabrian Sea and to other countries, Isabelruizperdiguero had the opportunity to dig through the tons of wood brought in by the sea as well as remnants found by walking through the forests. As she continues to build small sculptural pieces, little by little they become more important in her practice.
Regarding her photographic work, she doesn't like poses or fixed images. She is not interested in the perfection of an image, but rather the imperfection to transmit an emotion or a disturbing sensation.
