Jimmy Ruf

Jimmy Ruf works with various mediums including painting, collage, photography, sculpture, and installation, investigating notions and conceptual forms of vanity. The artist says of his practice, “Starting from this first concept of vanity, I explore the main themes of humanity—death, sex, and religion. They strike us so much, especially through the imagery of mass culture. I try to create a break, spare time, a reflection and thus contemplate solitude, moral philosophy, and guilt.”

Ruf has shown his work in solo exhibitions at Archiraar Gallery, Brussels, Four by three space, Brussels, Galerie Wilm-Art, Amiens, Espace Culturel L’article, Paris, Artothèque les 3 Arts, Paris, Galerie Le Local, Amiens, France and Galerie Art Consomart, Clermont de l’Oise, France. Group exhibitions include Dexia Art Center, Brussels, Galerie Nadine Feront, Brussels, Clovis XV, Brussels, Fokal, Port-au-Prince, Haiti, and Lambert Gallery, Brussels.
