JPW3

JPW3 engages with a variety of materials—relating found, fabricated, and raw elements to create lushly textured surfaces in both painting and sculpture. Layering images and densely applied wax and returning frequently to materials such as popcorn or automotive parts, the artist distorts both the smooth surface of his supports as well as recognizable visual motifs.

He has had solo exhibitions at galleries including Night Gallery in Los Angeles, Michael Jon Gallery in Miami, Martos Gallery in New York, and Galerie Nagel Draxler in Cologne. His work has been included in group exhibitions at The Hammer Museum in Los Angeles, Kavi Gupta Gallery in Berlin, New York Center for Book Arts, and Milwaukee Art Museum, among other venues.
