Katia Santibañez

Paris-born, New York–based painter Katia Santibañez is best known for colorful abstract paintings that explore repetition, similarity, and difference as it exists in nature and architecture. In her own words, “My goal is to bring nature and architecture to an abstract state, a state approaching that of the mind. By traveling inside these spaces the viewer is both disturbed and fascinated by this convergence.” Paintings that at first glance look like repeated patterns are actually full of minute differences—like riffs on a single theme.

Santibañez’s work has been included in group exhibitions at the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center, the International Print Center, and the Brooklyn Museum, among many others.
