Markus Saile
Markus Saile is a painter who employs an experimental approach to the “all-over” technique commonly used in abstract expressionism. His dynamic brushstrokes coupled with fluid surfaces and complementary colors open up the picture space to a visually vibrating surface. His paintings can be compared to Wolfgang Tilmans's close ups that favor experiments with color and texture. The shapes in Saile's work develop as a result of their own movement. There is no hierarchy within his pictures, allowing the eye to remain in constant stimulation. Saile states, “The paintings are between the picture as a ‘window’ in the classical sense of representation and the picture as a diagram with its pictorial problems.”
Saile’s work was featured in numerous exhibitions at key galleries and museums, including the NAK Neuer Aachener Kunstverein in Aachen, a group show in a book by MÉLANGE at Art Düsseldorf, Markus Lüttgen, Booth G09, exhibitions at
