Michael Müller

German multimedia artist Michael Müller is known for this striking conceptual installations and drawings. Often working with found materials in specific color palettes, Müller aims to address various histories and realities of artistic expression. Says the artist of his work, “As I am completely aware of the fact that in any case, there is only one way of deriving the reality of infinitely many, it remains a permanent task to double-check the implemented works. And perhaps this is ultimately one of the acknowledgements (…): the bliss of comprehension and failure. Thus, art, even beyond such limitations, for me is an ethical obligation in the social domain, for only after having read the observer, does its political character become evident.”

Müller has participated in many exhibitions including Kunthaus Hamburg, the KW Institute for Contemporary Art, Berlin, the Des Moines Art Centre, IA, the Winzavod Center for Contemporary Art, Moscow, Russia, the Kunstund Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik, Bonn, the Kunsthaus Dresden, and the Kunsthalle in Kiel. His works have also been shown in a large-scale solo exhibition Staatliche Kunsthalle Baden-Baden. Müller has taught as a professor at the Berlin University of Arts since 2015.
