Michele Kishita

Stylistically, Kishita’s work is deeply influenced by the strong lines and compressed space of Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints, particularly the landscapes and natural world imagery of Hiroshige and Hokusai. In addition to creating her own work, Kishita is a Japanese print consultant who authenticates, translates, and appraises woodblock prints.

Kishita received her MFA and BFA degrees from the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. She has held artist residencies in Iceland, Russia, and New Mexico, and her work has been featured in exhibitions across the US, in Russia, and in the United Arab Emirates. Her work can be found in the permanent collectios of Toyota, Kaiser Permanente, Park Towne Place, Temple University, Drexel University, Texas Tech University, the University of the Arts.
