Moe Satt

Moe Satt (Myanmar, b. 1983) is an artist and curator based in Yangon. In 2008, he founded and organized Beyond Pressure, an international festival of performance art in Myanmar. Through works that span various media from photography and sculpture to video and sound installations to performance art, Moe Satt addresses provocative social and political issues in Myanmar, such as the role of religion and that of the individual in society. Moe Satt was nominated for the Hugo Boss Asia Art Award in 2005. He received an Asian Cultural Council Fellowship in 2017 to engage with artists and curators and to explore contemporary art in the United States. During his ACC residency, he developed the idea for his work, and after returning from ACC, he had his solo show called “If I say it’s true seven times.”
