Mu Li

Li Mu (China, b. 1974) creates works that transcend the boundaries of himself and broaden his understanding towards art, drawing inspirations from his own life experiences with the environment and the general public through video, photography, installation and performance. Li Mu has participated in numerous group exhibitions and solo exhibitions including, “Li Mu-A Man, A Village, A Museum,” Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands (2015); “Sol LeWiit and Lu Daode,” Aruro Museum, Shanghai (2015); and “Confessions of the Imperfect,” Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands (2015). Li Mu lives and works in Feng County and Suzhou, China. He graduated from the Suzhou School of Art and Design in 1995 and the Academy of Art of Tsinghua University, Beijing in 2001.


Li received support from the Asian Cultural Council to take part in a residency program at the International Studio and Curatorial Program in New York (2011), and in a roundtable discussion at the International Institute for Asian Studies’ International Conference on Asian Studies (2013).
