Pete Schulte

Drawing is the primary medium of Pete Schulte’s practice, which includes the integration of sculpture, site-specific, and curatorial activities. His drawings engage variations of square, circular and triangular forms, appearing like architectural shadows of graphite. Evoking everything from film stills to mechanical parts, Schulte’s work elevates the simplicity of abstraction through precise technical skill.

Schulte’s exhibitions include whitespace in Atlanta, Drawings and Paintings with John Dilg at Jeff Bailey Gallery in Hudson, New York, The Visual Arts Gallery at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Luise Ross Gallery in New York. His work has been included in recent group exhibitions at Look&Listen, Saint-Chamas, France and Jeff Bailey Gallery, New York. He has been awarded residencies at Yaddo, Bemis Center for Contemporary Art, Atlantic Center For Art and Threewalls. Schulte teaches at The University of Alabama. He co-founded The Fuel And Lumber Company with Amy Pleasant in summer of 2013.
