Renata De Bonis Gallery Art

Renata De Bonis has developed her research in painting and three-dimensional media such as sculptures and sound installations since 2006. Her research evolves the concerns of overlapping times, such as the geological and the mundane and the relationship of the contemporary man with nature and landscape. This reflects on her choice of materials, which goes to found branches and rocks to plaster, concrete, lead and everyday objects and a sound & silence investigation. In her practice there’s a need to give attention to the apparently invisible, forgotten and insignificant.

Recent solo exhibitions include BFA Boatos Gallery, Sao Paulo, Lamb Projects, London, Centro Cultural Saao Paulo, Sao Paulo, Coletor, São Paulo, Galeria Laura Marsiaj, Rio de Janeiro. Recent group exhibitions include 3a Bienal de Montevideo, Montevideo, Eigenheim Galerie, Weimar, Instituto Tomie Ohtake, Galeria Athena Contemporânea, Rio de Janeiro, Museu da Lingua Portuguesa, São Paulo, and Instituto Tomie Ohtake, São Paulo. Since 2009 De Bonis has been selected to several artist residencies in Iceland, USA, Brazil, Germany and England. In 2015 she received a grant to investigate the landscapes painted by Caspar David Friedrich, at the Künstlerhaus Lukas artist residency in Germany. She is also featured in the book Pintura Brasileira Séc XXI (Brazilian Painting 21st Century) by Cobogó publishing house.
