Rob Wynne

Rob Wynne juxtaposes found text from television, literature, and his own personal exchanges with evocative visual material, creating surreal compositions that, quite literally, place characters and situations from across history, philosophy, fantasy, and reality in conversation. His work has combined, for example, references to 18th-century Meissen figurines, Jean Genet’s stage directions, and naturalist specimens. Language also plays a central role in Wynne’s sculptural work, which includes wall-mounted, hand-poured glass letters, materializing the artist’s fascination with the generation of meaning through visual means.

Rob Wynne’s work is included in the collections of New York’s Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of Art, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, La Collection de Frac des Pays de la Loire, Les Menil’s Fondation D’Art Contemporain Guerlain, and Paris’s Bibliothèque national. His work has been included in group exhibitions at New York’s Flag Art Foundation, the Museum of Modern Art, and the Estuaire Biennale, among many others. He lives and works in New York.
