Robert Greene

Robert Greene is an American Painter, born and raised in New York City, who established his reputation in the eighties with Arcadian landscapes. Since then his work has evolved towards abstraction and textured monochromatic pattern. Greene says of his process, “my oil paintings celebrate color and texture articulated through a methodical and intuitive process of painterly construction, meticulous deconstruction and repositioning. It's an intensive process that serves to create artwork balancing individual mark-making with systematic precision. My method is one that seeks to connect detail and touches of paint and texture that hints at the infinite nature of beauty.”

Greene has exhibited at numerous galleries in the United States and Europe and has been represented by Robert Miller Gallery in New York for over twenty years. His work has been shown in many institutions including Witte de With, Rotterdam and the Venice Biennale. Greene also participated in a Biennial Exhibition at the Whitney Museum of American Art, New York. Greene's photographs and paintings have also been the subject of a museum show at the Stedelijk Museum Bureau in Amsterdam. His work has been commissioned by Chanel for over 40 fashion boutiques worldwide.
