Ruben Ochoa

Ruben Ochoa's work consists mainly of large-scale photographic and sculptural installations in which he uses adapted nineteenth-century image development techniques as well as monumental sculptural materials to produce paradoxes of surface and volume. The subject matter of his work varies greatly, from epic representations of contemporary political realities and religious morality to studies of everyday objects and structures. Ochoa employs a variety of media including photography, installations, adapted objects, and artist books.

Ochoa is an elected member of the committee and jury of the National Foundation for Culture and the Arts (Ministry of Culture), Mexico. His work was commissioned for a landmark show of "20 Iberoamerican artists," and he took first place honors at the Mercosur 12 Biennial in Buenos Aires. Notable exhibitions of Ochoa's work include the highly acclaimed touring exhibition 360° (2006-2012), shown in cities throughout Europe and published as a book in 2010.
