Stuart Middleton

British artist Stuart Middleton creates multimedia and highly conceptual work that navigates the space between performance and installation. Addressing issues of psychological and physical space, Middleton acts as both artist and poet, raising questions of habitual behaviors and human nature. His recent exhibition at Carlos/Ishikawa in London featured a structured tent, the interior of which included several maze-like turns. The accompanying text presented a humorous narrative involving a private sexual relationship between a CEO and his finance officer. Within the context of this salacious tale, Middleton’s installation takes on a whole new emotional space.

Stuart Middleton’s recent solo and group exhibitions include Cole, London, Camden Arts Centre, London, Carlos/Ishikawa, London, HBK Städelschule, Frankfurt am Main, Germany, The Sunday Painter, London, Mostyn Art Gallery, Llandudno, UK and Johan Berregren, Malmø, Sweden, among others. He has participated in the 2014 Hamburg Short Film Festival, Hamburg, Germany and the 2015 Material art fair in Mexico City, Mexico. He is a Mostyn Open 18 Prize Winner from Mostyn Art Gallery, Llandudno, UK.
