Suzanne Song

Inspired by Minimalism and Op art, Suzanne Song creates works that re-examine the three-dimensional possibilities of painting. Using a monochromatic color palette and simple, set patterns, her paintings simultaneously embrace their physical, material flatness and negate it through their ambitious use of trompe l'oeil. In her series Replica, Song continues her examination of optical illusions, paring down her vocabulary to zig-zagging lines and hues of brown and white. Her work has been shown at numerous institutions, including the Drawing Center, and she is a recipient of the NYFA Fellowship in Painting.
