The Reader

Though he works pseudonymously, preferring to stay out of the public eye, street artist The Reader—who has also worked under the monikers Read More Books, Read Up, Mr. Bones, Rancor, and Open Your Eyes—creates signs, posters, and stencils that command attention. His bold, graphic style draws on the aesthetic of political propaganda, primarily taking the form of text-heavy compositions utilizing white, red, black, and grey. In his work, walls, canvases, stickers, and prints are often emblazoned with directives commanding his viewers to read more books—what one critic described as a "DIY literacy campaign."
