Thomas Frontini
Thomas Frontini's work is based on the premise that "fantasy and reality are always clashing in (one's) consciousness, particularly in dreams." He posits that despite technological advances, humans will always rely primarily on basic instinct. His paintings are depictions of the cyclical quality of nature and the tendency for humankind to continually return to past tendencies. Frontini's work often incorporates shrines as prominent subjects to comment on the ways that societies "develop a desire to move away from insignificant rituals into a more enlightened present...(but) the rituals continue." The shrines are not destroyed, they are simply transformed. Frontini's paintings are characterized by their strong forground imagery and use of symbolism.
Frontini's work has been exhibited in solo exhibitions at Richard Levy Gallery in Albuquerque, New Mexico (2016); Fischer Galleries in Jackson, Mississippi (2016); Jack Meier Gallery in Houston, Texas (2015); Art Expo New York (2015); The William and Joseph Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico (2015); Gama Gallery in Istanbul, Turkey (2014); William Busta Gallery in Cleveland, Ohio (2014); The Gallery 4 in Pittsburgh (2014); the International Izmir Festival in Turkey (2014); Macao Arts Festival in China (2014); and more.
