Tom Berenz

Tom Berenz's work is about his relationship to the world around him; cerebral and physical, intellectual and visceral. He uses chaos as a metaphor to discuss personal, sociopolitical, environmental and ideological issues. Through the motif of chaos, he explores the existential self and examines personal narratives, with some being more literal and others more enigmatic. Notions of loss, place, memory, space and time are central as he reexamines personal experiences from his past and present. Berenz has international gallery representation and has shown in many exhibitions including Julie Saul Gallery, Circuit 12 Contemporary, Mirus Gallery, Minotaur Projects, Hyde Park Art Center, Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, Purdue University and Wisconsin Museum of Art. Berenz lives and works in Milwaukee, WI and also has a studio in Brooklyn, NY.
