Tristram Lansdowne

In Tristan Landsdowne's "Villas" series (2016), eerie architectural drawings seem to fold into themselves like washed-out optical illusions. Pool furniture hangs upside down, or maybe it doesn't; what could be a top hat or birthday cake sits next next to a pair of aviator sunglasses on a white, triangular piece of pool furniture. His "New Horizons" series plays with perspectives in understated yet unsettling ways, with swimming pools seeming to reflect and stretch into the sky and high-end interiors flattened into the view from wall-to-floor windows.

Tristram Lansdowne was born in 1983 in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. He studied visual arts at the University of Victoria and in Toronto at the Ontario College of Art & Design, where he received a Bachelor of Fine Arts in painting in 2007. Currently he lives and works in Toronto. Landsdowne has had with solo and two-person shows internationally at venues throughout such as Galerie Nicolas Robert, Montreal, Canada (2017); Wil Kucey Gallery, Toronto, Canada (2016); and Joshua Liner Gallery, New York, NY (2010).
