Volker Eichelmann

The production of Volker Eichelmann's artwork is predicated on a dialogue with an extensive and diverse cast of historical figures comprising of artists, writers and fictional personae. Featured prominently amongst these figures are Stephen Tennant (1906-1987), Mary Delany (1700-1788), Johann Joachim Winckelmann (1717-1768) and Ronald Firbank (1886-1926). The primary method for the creation of Eichelmann's artwork is collage, employed across a range of media and activities including works on paper, sculpture, painting, curating, and publishing.


 


Eichelmann has held recent solo exhibitions at Ancient & Modern in London, and Galerie Andreas Huber in Vienna, and has participated in numerous group shows including Jessica Silverman Gallery in San Francisco, K21 in Düsseldorf, and Vilma Gold Project Space in Berlin. Eichelmann curated "Silver Mirros, Silver Wood," a group show of his works shown alongside a selection of 18th and 19th century objets d’art for Frieze London 2014. He is currently an Associate Professor at Kingston University.
