Andrew Cross

British artist and curator Andrew Cross visited Mogadishu, Somalia, in 2013 with Somali born friend and architect, Rashid Ali. Cross was the first person allowed to photograph the interior of the National Assembly Building in Mogadishu since the outbreak of civil war in the 1990s, and from this first visit to an African ‘zone of conflict’ a series of photographs were created which were later to be exhibited as a central feature of Cross’ 2015 exhibition at Turner Contemporary Gallery in Margate.
