Dean Monogenis

Working both freehand and with the aid of stencils, artist Dean Monogenis's work generates images of incongruity by exposing the awkward and inevitable relationship between nature and development. To create tension in his work, Monogenis combines multiple painting techniques, emphasizing the line, edges, and textures that these combinations produce. The resulting images question the logical placement of the industrial within the natural environment.

Monogenis has participated in a number of solo and group exhibitions, including a group exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum of Art. Monogenis has also been the artist in residence at both the CCA Andratx Art Centre in Mallorca, Spain and at the Dyson College of Arts and Sciences at Pace University in Pleasantville, NY.
