Ricardo de Oliveira

Brazilian born artist Ricardo de Oliveira is perhaps best known for his large format photographs and eerie Super 8 and 16mm films. His longstanding concerns have been with dislocation, liminality and aimless passages in today’s borderless world. His paintings and drawings are expressions of this matter.

His work has been shown in numerous New York-based galleries including Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, American Fine Arts Gallery, Pat Hearn Gallery, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery, and Sara Meltzer Gallery. Group exhibitons include "Campo" an exhibition for the Centennial Anniversary of the Venice Biennale, which traveled on to be exhibited at European museums such as the Landsmuseum Innsbruck, Malmoe Konstmuseum, Malmoe and Fondazione Sandretto Re-Rebaudengo, Turin. His work was also exhibited at the Wiener Sezession, Vienna, Le Magasin, Centre de Art Contemporarie, Grenoble and Art Basel Miami as part of "loveandhopeandsexanddreams" curated by Trevor Smith. Publications include Art in America, Art News, FlashArt, Camera Austria, Documents Sur L’Art, Cabinet Magazine.
